Grace United Methodist Church has been a part of the Morningside neighborhood in Sioux City since 1888. We enjoy an historic and active bond with Morningside College, and we nurture and support many community organizations.
Our congregation is vital and active in serving the community in numerous ways. As a church family, we strive to fellowship together, learn more about Bible, and grow in and live out our faith together. Every member of our congregation contributes to who we are as the people of Grace.
As United Methodists our heritage is very important to how we profess our faith. We emphasize the centrality of God’s grace – the love God has for us even though we cannot earn it and do not deserve it.
We practice our faith through works of piety and mercy. Jesus said the way to eternal life is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. (Luke 10:27) Acts of piety strengthen our relationship with a living God: things like prayer, study of scripture, journaling, sacraments, public and private worship. Acts of mercy strengthen our relationship to neighbor: things like service to those in need, working for justice for all people, teaching, inviting, mentoring, volunteering, community involvement, supporting our families.
The mission of Grace United Methodist Church is to guide seekers of all ages to God through the gracious love of Jesus Christ.
We will be a church that commits itself to passing the faith to a new generation, serves as a center for spiritual formation and develops ministries of service to our neighborhood.
